- James Hofmeister is a key member of Ridgetop Group, with a broad-based background in electronic prognostics, fault-tolerant electronics and software architecture, design and development, as an engineer and engineering manager. His expertise includes:

- Integrated circuits: Analog and mixed-signal design, test structure design
- Expert systems: Remaining useful life (RUL) estimators
- Product design: Electronic prognostic sensors and PHM-enabled systems
- His engineering innovation is demonstrated by his five patent filings for Ridgetop since 2005 (two issued, one approved and two pending approval) and his five issued patents for IBM. Mr. Hofmeister has 30 years of prior experience in computers and software. He retired from IBM as Senior Principal Engineer in 1998, and prior to IBM, he spent more than nine years in the military in radio, radar and electronic equipment.
- Mr. Hofmeister is and has been a principal investigator, lead engineer, and contributing engineer on many federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards and commercial contracts with emphasis on the NAVAIR, JSF program; NASA Goddard and NASA Ames; and DOE. His accomplishments include more than 10 Phase I and II awards completed and in progress.
