New Sentinel Motion Pilot Study Announcement with Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad and Innovative Operations Technology

Ridgetop Group Announces New Sentinel Motion Pilot Study with Reading Blue Mountain and Northern (RBMN) Railroad and Innovative Operations Technology (IOT)

Tucson, Arizona, April 10, 2023

Ridgetop Group, Inc. (Ridgetop) and Innovative Operations Technology (IOT) are excited to announce a joint pilot study program with Reading Blue Mountain and Northern (RBMN) Railroad in Port Clinton, PA. Together, Ridgetop and IOT are testing and evaluating the latest design upgrades for Ridgetop’s Sentinel Motion for Rail technology. This innovative on-board monitoring technology utilizes the Internet-of-Things to connect wireless smart sensors to a complete data acquisition and diagnostics software platform that monitors bearings, wheels, and track conditions in the railroad industry. Sentinel Motion offers substantial benefits when compared to traditional wayside hot-box detection systems that only detect failure modes after they have already occurred. Ridgetop’s approach to use onboard monitoring, cloud connectivity, and advance vibration analysis methods has been proven to detect wheel and bearing failures well in advance and can help prevent catastrophic derailments.

Through this pilot study program, Ridgetop and IOT are planning to demonstrate how Sentinel Motion can be used to support the transition from reactive or preventative maintenance to Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) based on physical evidence of degradation. Such information, diagnostics, and alerts can be easily integrated into other software platforms, and complements both companies’ commitment to providing railroad operators with new technologies that improve safety, maintenance, and operational readiness of their rail assets.

Ridgetop Announces Exclusive Product Distribution Agreement for the Advanced Electrolyte Model

Ridgetop Group Announces Exclusive Product Distribution Agreement for the Advanced Electrolyte Model Developed at Idaho National Laboratory

Tucson, Arizona, February 1, 2023

Ridgetop Group, Inc. (Ridgetop) and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory (INL) are excited to announce an Exclusive Product Distribution Agreement for the Advanced Electrolyte Model (AEM) developed by Dr. Kevin Gering at INL. AEM is one of the first scientifically proven modeling tools to explore molecular-level interactions to simulate, diagnose, and predict electrolyte attributes through an exhaustive list of properties. This innovative technology has been successfully applied to significantly reduce the time required to characterize and optimize electrolytes for Li-Ion and Na-Ion battery applications. The data rich outputs from AEM are used to screen, characterize and optimize electrolyte systems, and to support transport modeling of batteries. Non-battery applications can also be served.

Through this new agreement, Ridgetop and INL will work together to enhance the commercial utility and drivability of AEM by developing a modern Graphical User Interface (GUI) and related output features. This supports our joint initiative of making AEM available to the global battery research community where we know the tool can play a key role in the design and development of next generation batteries. AEM complements Ridgetop’s existing CellSage product line and builds upon Ridgetop and INL’s joint business and technology collaboration exercises that started in 2015. Together our goal is to develop and commercialize new and proven technologies that support battery health modeling, diagnostics, and optimization for target applications and missions.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tucson AZ. – May 14, 2019 – Ridgetop Group, Inc. of Tucson, AZ today announced that some of its key Researchers have written a book entitled “Prognostics and Health Management, A Practical Approach to Improving System Reliability Using Condition-Based Data”. The authors include Doug Goodman, Chief Engineer and Company Founder, James Hofmeister, Distinguished Engineer, and Ferenc Szidarovszky, PhD, a renowned authority in Algorithm design.

Published by John Wiley and Sons, Ltd, and available on Amazon.com, the book provides a solid reference text to technical personnel who are interested in or responsible for system maintenance and are being asked to implement the latest methods of predictive maintenance. The book outlines methods for adopting prognostics to support predictive maintenance and advanced warning of impending failures, through implementation of Prognostics/Health Management (PHM), and/or Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM). This area is becoming increasingly important in all sectors of mechanical systems maintenance and wear analysis. The Author’s believe, more importantly, that systems like those described in the book will become more necessary and even considered standard equipment on new autonomous systems such as: drones, driverless vehicles, and other autonomous transports systems that are becoming more and more ubiquitous in today’s society.
Dr. Andre Kleyner, Reliability Series Senior Editor, Wiley writes “This book has been written by the leading experts and state-of-the-art practioners in the field of health management/monitoring. It discusses the many technical aspects of PHM along with its cost benefits …”
Tom Heiser, President and CEO stated, “Ridgetop continues to expand its operations as our customers adopt advanced PHM and IVHM systems. We are pleased to work with Wiley and Dr. Andre Kleiner, Series Editor, to introduce this ground-breaking and practical book. Our customers include engineers in all areas of transportation, aerospace, energy generation, and industrial automation. Those same engineers are now being called on to use the latest techniques in remote monitoring and autonomous reporting of impending failures to insure the safe operation of highly complex systems. It is with great pride that we announce this publication designed to help our customers implement these systems. “
Ridgetop Group is a privately held AS9100D-certified company, specializing in the development of advanced diagnostic methodologies and products, CBM+, and Prognostic Health Management (PHM), ensuring precise identification and isolation of system anomalies, advance notice of impending systems failure at the integrated device level, and both hardware and software for mission critical systems for avionics, rolling stock, and energy applications.
